While we can most often be found photographing dogs in Melbourne, Yarra Valley and on the Mornington Peninsula, the Pupparazzi do enjoy a road trip when the chance arises, so an enquiry from Maffra piqued our interest.
Like me, you probably know the name from the famous (and delicious!) cheeses of the Gippsland area but couldn’t quite place where Maffra is. Well, it’s 200kms east of Melbourne and surrounded by dairy farming and beautiful scenery which as you know, makes a great location for pet photography.
I also scouted out some nearby towns for suitable locations so have a list of great locations for pet photos next time we’re in Gippsland.
Bella & Fraser the Kelpie crosses were our subjects in Maffra, and very well behaved they were too. Adopted after becoming rescue dogs they were a little wary to start with, but with a little coaxing and an unhurried approach they eased into the session.
The old farm truck that happened to be on their property was a great find and both dogs were comfortable enough to sit in it for photos.
We finished the day relaxing in the fields as the sun set over the Gippsland hills behind their home. Perfect!
