Running our Melbourne pet photography business Pupparazzi, we see all types of breeds, with some over represented and some under represented, but I think one of the top 3 favourites (if we HAD to choose!) has to be the Border Collie.
Do these dogs ever have a quiet day? Their enthusiasm is infectious – there is no chance that you’ll be missing out on a walk with them around!
So, it was a pleasure to make the acquaintance of Ralph and his slightly quieter pal Penny recently. Penny will be featuring in a fluffy dog special at a later date…
Taking in the beach and neighbouring cliff top walks of the Sandringham and Brighton bayside our shoot was perfectly timed for the ‘golden hour’ at the end of a perfect spring day. I love finishing an afternoon with a shoot as it tops off the day nicely.
Night time and the harsh light of the middle of the day are perfect times to be sat in front of a computer editing instead of trying to convince a squinting dog that trying to take their photo at 1pm is a good idea. They rarely believe me!
If you’re considering booking a pet photography session do keep the timing in mind as the first few hours and the last few hours of the day are the most enjoyable and flattering to work with. Also, sometimes it can be cooler and therefore more comfortable for the dog too.
Enough talk of light for now, here are the photos of Ralph to enjoy. As always, it’s great to hear your thoughts so please feel free to leave a comment if you get the urge.
