Why Do Schnoodles Make Good Pets?

A Schnoodle is a total charmer of a dog, since it’s a cross breed of a miniature poodle and miniature schnauzer.

These dogs combine the intelligence of both the Poodle and Miniature Schnauzer, with the Schnauzer’s boldness and friendly demeanour along with a little of the Poodle’s great looks.

Usually, Schnoodles are small dogs with a weight that ranges from 4 to 10 kilograms. But, before you buy a Schnoodle puppy, make sure to do your homework first. Both parent breeds of Schnoodle can learn quickly and smart, meaning you’re likely to have a pretty smart dog on your hands!  Start training and socialization early and use some positive reinforcement techniques including food rewards, play, and praise.

What personality and appearance do Schnoodles have?

Schnoodles are fluffy like the poodles and with distinctive muzzle shape of Schnauzers. Their size differs drastically depending on the Schnauzer and Poodle parents from which they have been bred. Temperament can vary too, although it’s usually good.

Are Schnoodles hypoallergenic?

Schnoodles are sometimes promoted as being hypoallergenic and good for allergy sufferers, but while they do seem to be less of an irritant to those who are allergic to dander, the jury is still out on this one so do your own research on this one.  It could be a good excuse for some cuddles with a selection of these fine dogs!

What behaviour and temperament do Schnoodles have?

Schnoodles take after their parent breeds. These dogs are always happy, cheerful, and intelligent. They are always happy to hang out with you regardless of what you are doing. However, this type of dog isn’t just a companion dog since it also works well as a good therapy dog.

Protective, clever, and affectionate, Schnoodles make good pets for families with young children. You will find this dog breed to be loyal to your family. Children of all ages would enjoy the companionship of playing with this popular dog breed.

A Schnoodle usually does best in structured living situations as this can help prevent anxiety-related behavioral issues. There are times that Schnoodles can get very excited and playful, so training them not to jump up on people is necessary.

Do Schnoodles require training?

Since Schnoodle is the offspring of intelligent dog breeds, you will find that this dog is easy to train, but make sure that he’s challenged and motivated. Perceptive dogs like Schnoodles love to please you that will help with training lessons. With right discipline and training, Schnoodles usually fly through the basic obedience training and would be prepared for agility training and advanced obedience faster than other dogs. Of course, you will need to use the right methods and tactics to achieve any of your aims so do your research or seek professional dog training and assistance.

What is the best diet for a Schnoodle?

To thrive in your care and be a healthy member of the family, your dog will require a nutritious and well-balanced diet. The opinions on best dog foods differ, yet most experts agree that dry food is the most nutritious and complete option available to Schnoodle owners.

Ensure that any food you select is age appropriate and a good match for their activity level and size.

Serving size basically depends upon the dog’s size. Follow the recommended serving size and consult your vet for advice if you are not sure with the amount.

Break meal times to 2 separate feedings and make sure to monitor their eating habits. Ensure that your dog does not eat very fast to avoid bloating.  This will also avoid weight gain as well as any digestion problems and also reduce the possibility of pets becoming obese.
